XIII International Clarinet Course

La Lira Ampostina regularly organizes its International Clarinet Course, taught by Laura Ruiz Ferreres, Professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and Principal Clarinet of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra.

The course focuses on study techniques, breathing techniques, contemporary music effects, knowledge of the two existing clarinet systems (French/Boehm and German/Oehler), and interpretative practice of the clarinet repertoire, including orchestral, solo and chamber music.

The number of participants is limited to 10 active students, while listening participants are unlimited. The course will take place at the La Lira Ampostina School and Professional Music Centre, in Amposta (Tarragona, Spain).

The course includes piano accompaniment, as well as instrumental technique and orchestral repertoire classes.

Admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to payment. Applications must be submitted via the registration form. Minors must provide written authorization signed by their legal guardian.

CALENDAR AND COURSE SCHEDULES:

The course will take place on February 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2026, according to the following schedule:

  • February 20th & 21st: 10:00–13:00 and 14:00–17:00

  • February 22nd: 10:00–14:00

Piano accompaniment will be provided, and classes in instrumental technique and orchestral repertoire will be included.

  • Each active student will receive a minimum of two individual lessons with piano accompaniment.

  • Students may take part in group classes and orchestral audition preparation.

  • A certificate of attendance and completion will be issued.

WHO CAN APPLY TO THIS COURSE?

This course is specifically for clarinet students with a minimum standard of Grade 8, who are either:

– Currently studying their Bachelor or Masters Degree at a Music High School.

– Those who are interested and about to apply to study the clarinet at a Music High School.

REGISTRATION

The registration deadline is February 6th, 2026.

Places will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of the registration form and payment. Minors must submit signed parental authorization.
